Children in Need
To raise money for Children in Need we came to school dressed in spots and brought in lots of coins to cover our big Pudsey Bear.

Here are the new school council members wearing their badges proudly!
Being part of the school council is a very important job at Dennington School. One child is voted in to represent each year group, and they get an opportunity to help with the running of the school.
Our amazing year 5 and 6 children competed in the HSSSP football tournament held at Hartismere High School. They came 2nd in the competition and are all very proudly wearing their silver medals! A fantastic team effort, played with great enthusiasm. Jon and Charlie won a good sportsmanship award chosen by the referees.
We had a lovely day exploring Colchester Castle as part of our topic about the ancient Romans. To find out more and see all the pictures visit the photo gallery section of the website.
Chaffinches class have been busy creating and planting up their new garden. They planted and harvested strawberries, runner beans, courgettes, carrots, and lots of tomatoes. You may have seen the giant sunflowers towering over the fence as you walked to school.

Robins have been working on Not a Box by Antoinette Portis. So far in the unit they have used labelled the main character, created lists and used commas in a list, created their own captions for illustrations, tried out their own ideas for boxes and finally planned their very own 'Not a Box' book! They are currently creating, binding, writing and illustrating their own books using their plan.

During the summer term on Friday mornings, Wrens have been taking part in Forest School at Charlotte's Wood. The highlights have included den building, making fires, playing in the mud kitchen, and creating obstacle courses around the forest. They even enjoyed marshmallows and hot chocolate around the campfire!
